Images of Approximately 700 Word and PDF files

I am going to be offering downloadable files on my website. I would like visitors to be able to see an image of each digital item. Therefore, I need the front page of each document to be captured as a jpeg while retaining the the original document. Each image is to be saved using the same name as the file from which it originates. Each image will also be saved in the same folder as the document. I can provide more information if needed. This could possibly become a long term project since I will eventually be adding thousands of files to my site.
